Hearts run out winners versus Celtic

Hearts defeated Celtic in a close win on Saturday, 2x1, on matchweek 1. Both Robbie Neilson's team and Ange Postecoglou's team held their first game in the competition. In the starting XI there was Alex Cochrane and Josh Ginnelly.

After 8 minutes, Gary Mackay-Steven opened the scoring for Hearts, with a left-foot shot inside the penalty box.

After 54 minutes, Anthony Ralston fired home for Celtic, with a left-foot strike, assisted by Odsonne Édouard. With 77 minutes on the clock, Josh Ginnelly was subbed. John Souttar scored the winner in the closing stages of the game.

After the result Hearts are 4th in the table, with 3 points, while Celtic sit 10th place, with 0 points. With regard to the next fixture, Robbie Neilson's team will play away against St. Mirren, whilst Ange Postecoglou's team will play at home against Dundee FC.
