Montpellier get the better of Auxerre

Montpellier edged out Auxerre, 0x2, on Sunday, on to matchday 20 of the Ligue 1. In this competition, Christophe Pélissier's team came from four defeats, and Romain Pitau's team came from three defeats. Stephy Mavididi runned the show.

The first-half ended with a goalless draw.

The first goal was scored by Stephy Mavididi after 62 minutes, with a right-foot strike. Forward netted the last goal in the 80th minute with a right-foot shot inside the penalty box. Benjamin Lecomte kept his goal safe by saving the penalty in the closing stages of the game, taken by Birama Touré.

After the result Montpellier are 14th in the table, with 20 points, while Auxerre sit 19th place, with 13 points. Next up, Romain Pitau's team will host Paris SG, whilst Christophe Pélissier's team will play away against Monaco.
