Oxford United followed up a 6-0 win in League One at the weekend by thumping four goals past a shellshocked West Ham in the Carabao Cup last night - to officially become the most prolific team in the land.
Currently only 12th in the table in the third tier, Karl Robinson's side have really hit their stride in recent weeks and The U's have now hit 28 goals in all competitions this season - one more than Pep Guardiola's free-scoring Man City. It's an incredible achievement from Oxford, although it is slightly mitigated by the fact they have played twice as many games (14) as City (7) in domestic competition.
Last night's Carabao Cup victory was particularly impressive. West Ham strode into Oxfordshire on the back of an impressive 2-0 win against Manchester United last weekend, but - despite both sides fielding much-changed sides - were simply unable to live with their hosts' quality and desire at the Kassam Stadium.
After a goal-less first half, defender Elliott Moore set the ball rolling for The U's, who quickly secured a two-goal cushion through Matt Taylor's 71st minute strike. Further goals from Tarique Fosu and Shandon Baptiste completely burst the Hammers' bubble and secured Oxford's place in the Fourth Round - where they will face fellow giantkillers Sunderland, who kicked Premier League Sheffield United to the kerb on Wednesday night.
With Oxford in such a purple patch, Gillingham will have their work cut out this weekend - the Gills travelling to Oxfordshire on Saturday to face the sharpest attack in the country.
