Raphael Varane is set to miss Manchester United's forthcoming clashes against Leicester, Atalanta and Liverpool after picking up a groin injury on international duty with France.
The centre back was substituted during Les Bleus' thrilling Nations League final win against Spain on Sunday, and will be sidelined for "a few weeks", according to his club.
The 28-year-old has featured in seven of United's games this season after signing for the Red Devils in the summer from Real Madrid.
Varane's injury leaves United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a headache, as club captain Harry Maguire is also on the treatment table with a calf problem.
"Raphael Varane sustained a groin muscle injury in the Nations League final and has commenced rehabilitation at the club," read a United statement.
"He will be out for a few weeks."
United travel to Leicester in the Premier League this coming Saturday before taking on Atalanta in the Champions League on Tuesday. That high stakes European fixture is followed by a huge top flight encounter with rivals Liverpool on Saturday 24 October.
