Salford City are set to appoint Manchester United youth coach Neil Wood as the new manager according to The Athletic.
Neil Wood has worked with Salford co-owner Nicky Butt in the United academy previously and has been in charge of the U23 team, overseeing the development of players like Anthony Elanga, Alejandro Garnacho, and Hannibal Mejbri.
Wood initially joined the Red Devils as a coach for the U15s before moving up the ranks to the U18s and eventually U23s. The 39-year old is thought to be highly rated behind the scenes at Old Trafford.
The move follows the sacking of Gary Bowyer, who led Salford City to a 10th place finish in League Two this season.
