Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect, the club announced on Tuesday.
The Mancunians have issued a statement which read: “Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect.
"The club thanks him for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances, and wishes him and his family well for the future.
"Everyone at Manchester United remains focused on continuing the team’s progress under Erik ten Hag and working together to deliver success on the pitch."
The announcement comes as a result of Ronaldo's two-part bombshell interview with Piers Morgan on TalkTV last week and it comes just two days before the 37-year-old is set to play in his first game of the World Cup with Portugal on Thursday.
During the interview the Portuguese forward criticised the way the club is run and took aim at the club's owners, manager and younger players.
