Goals from Lauren Hemp and Chloe Kelly gave Manchester City an impressive 2-1 win over Arsenal.
In a rematch of Wednesday’s WSL semi-final that ended with the Gunners in extra time, City managed to get revenge.
It took just four minutes for the home side to take the lead with Kelly’s low ball in from the right finding its way to Lauren Hemp to finish from close range.
Kelly, who was causing the Arsenal defence headaches all day, went from provider to score just before the break. Bunny Shaw robbed Lotte Wubben-Moy, ran forward the ball and squared the ball for Kelly to fire home.
Arsenal did manage to pull a goal back near the hour mark when Rafaelle Souza rose highest to head Frida Maanum’s free-kick into the net.
The visitors tried to fight back but City held firm to pick up three big points and move ahead of Arsenal into third in the table.
