Sunderland is close to sign Portuguese youngster Luís Semedo on a free transfer, according to Portuguese outlet Record.
The top scorer of Benfica's journey in winning the UEFA Youth League in the 2021/22 season is set to leave and is likely to join the club that competed in the promotion playoff to the Premier League last season.
The 19-year-old, who is yet to make his debut for Benfica's senior team, has a contract expiring on June 30th.
Semedo spent 12 seasons serving the club and in addition to being Benfica's top scorer in the previous season's UEFA Youth League triumph, he scored 14 goals for the Under-23 team.
The Portugal U20 international also has scored the winning goal when Benfica won the first Under-20 Intercontinental Cup earlier this season.
