Leandro Trossard and Bukayo Saka found the back of the net as Arsenal secured a 2-0 victory over Sevilla in Group B of the Champions League at the Emirates Stadium.
The hosts controlled from the beginning and in the very first minute of the match, Gabriel Martinelli's well-placed corner kick reached Kai Havertz at the far post, but Havertz mistimed his header, and it drifted wide of the post.
Shortly before the half-hour mark, Arsenal's pressure paid off. Jorginho initiated the play with a brilliant, defense-splitting pass to Saka on the right side. Saka sprinted behind the defense and delivered a precise cross to Trossard, who calmly slotted the ball past Marko Dmitrovic in the Sevilla goal.
Sevilla barely made an appearance in Arsenal's half during the first half, and their only notable attempt was thwarted by a superb tackle from William Saliba when Adria Pedrosa tried to break towards the box.
In fact, the Spanish side didn't register a shot on goal, nor did they have a touch in Arsenal's penalty area in the opening half.
Mikel Arteta's men continued to dictate the pace in the second half. Saka's deep cross found Havertz in the box, but his shot was deflected wide, leading to another corner.
Trossard also missed an opportunity to extend the lead when a well-orchestrated play involving Declan Rice and Martinelli set him up, but he couldn't find the target.
However, Arsenal did eventually doubled their lead after a throughball from Martinelli sent Saka in on goal. The English forward raced into the box, outmaneuvered his defender by shifting to his left foot, and expertly placed the ball into the corner of the net.
Unfortunately, Saka had to leave the match with an injury with five minutes remaining, after twisting his ankle.
With this result, the Gunners sit top of the group, four points clear of PSV in second and they just require just one more point from their remaining two fixtures to qualify to the Last 16.
Next up, Mikel Arteta's men will redirect their attention to the Premier League as they host Burnley on Saturday.
