Manchester United first won the illustrious trophy back in 1908/09 they waited nearly forty years to get their hands on the trophy again when they won in 1947/48.
The Red Devils picked up the title once in the sixties and once in the seventies before winning three times in the eighties and the nineties as they overtook Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur as the most successful side in FA Cup history.
The Fergie years
Sir Alex Ferguson has been in charge for five of the eleven titles won including the last time United won the title against Millwall in a one sided final in 2004. Cristiano Ronaldo scored once and Ruud van Nistelrooy got a second half brace to see off the Championship side.
Under Sir Alex Ferguson perhaps their most notable FA Cup win was the 1996 final where an 85th minute goal against rivals Liverpool sealed the League and Cup double.
The Scot sits joint second on the list of most successful managers in FA Cup history behind fellow Scot George Ramsey who oversaw Aston Villa win on six occasions.
Arsenal
Arsenal's first success came twenty years after Manchester United's in 1929/30 but they managed to follow it up just six years later in 1935/36.
Their third title came soon after the end of World War Two in 1949/50 and the Gunners had to wait twenty years before they would win the cup again in 1970/71.
Record Books
Arsène Wenger14 official titles Arsenal are the only club to have won League and FA Cup doubles in three separate decades (1970's 1990's and 2000s.)
The North London side picked up one more cup in the late seventies before going on to win the cup twice in the nineties before their dominance at the start of the 2000s.
Wenger Years
Under Arsene Wenger Arsenal won four titles including three in four years as the early 2000s were dominated by the Frenchman's side.
The most enjoyable wins for Wenger came in the 2002 final against Chelsea where they ran out 2-0 winners thanks to wonder goals from Ray Parlour and Freddie Ljungburg, and the 0-0 draw with Manchester United in 2005 when they took the title on penalties from their massive rivals after being outplayed for the majority of the match.
Tonights games
So the task is a huge one for West Ham at Old Trafford and Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium as they attempt to halt the progress of the two most successful sides in the FA Cup and two of the top four most successful managers in the tournaments history.
