Urawa Reds edged out Vegalta Sendai, 5x2, on Sunday, on matchday 1. Both Tsuyoshi Otsuki's team and Takashi Kiyama's team held their first game in the competition. Léo Souza with a superb display.
The first goal was scored by Léo Souza after 9 minutes. In the 18th minute, Kenyu Sugimoto strucked the second goal for Urawa Reds, assisted by Ryosuke Yamanaka. After 35 minutes, Léo Souza struck for Saitama's team, laid on by Ryosuke Yamanaka. With 41 minutes on the clock, Wataru Tanaka struck for Vegalta Sendai, assisted by Masato Tokida. Shortly before the interval, Wataru Tanaka fired home Sendai's team's second goal.
With 51 minutes on the clock, Kenyu Sugimoto struck for Tsuyoshi Otsuki's team, from the penalty spot. Quenten Martinus netted the last goal in the 78th minute.
