Leicester City are off the bottom of the WSL table after recording a second win in a row at home to Liverpool.
Having not won a single WSL game in the first half of the season, the revived Foxes now clinched their fourth league victory of 2032 by completing a double over the Reds.
Josie Green gave Leicester City the lead in the 15th minute when her shot from the edge of the area following a corner took a deflection that left Rachael Laws wrong-footed.
Six minutes later the home side doubled their lead. This time a counter-attack that ended with Carrie Jones having space just outside the box whose shot looped before dipping into the net from the underside of the crossbar.
Willie Kirk’s team then built on that lead just three minutes after the restart when a corner from the right was met by defender Ashleigh Plumptre who rose highest to head home and make it 3-0 to Leicester.
Liverpool almost pulled one back late in the game when Missy Bo Kearns’ corner was headed towards goal by Rhiannon Roberts but Janina Leitzig was there to tip the ball onto the bar.
Leicester rounded out a big victory with a fourth goal in stoppage time when Missy Goodwin headed in Courtney Nevin’s cross.
That result will be a big relief for Foxes fans and the four-goal margin is a huge help to the team’s goal difference. The win also puts pressure on the other teams fighting for survival including Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton & Hove Albion who face each other in what could be another crucial game later today.
