Barcelona made it six straight wins for the start of the new La Liga season seeing off Real Sociedad with a comfortable 4-1 win.

The hosts dominated the opening forty five minutes and should have gone in four or five to the good at the break, although they had to make do with three with Neymar, Messi and Busquets all hitting the target.

The second half was not such an entertaining affair but Barca put in a comfortable display after conceding to ensure another three points as they seek to defend their La Liga title.

The visitors nearly had the perfect start but Swiss striker Seferovic could only force his effort onto the bar after confusion at the back for Barca.

Then came the Barca domination with Neymar scoring with the hosts first attack finishing off easily after an Alexis curled cross picked out the Brazilian.

Neymar followed up his fifth minute goal with an assist just three minutes later dinking a cross to the back post for Messi to nod home with ease.

Messi very nearly made it 3-0 when he saw a dinked effort saved before he blasted an effort at the bar.

The hosts had to wait just a minute before it was 3-0 when Sergio Busquets scored a lovely goal from the edge of the box flicking the ball up with his right foot before volleying home with an excellent left foot goal.

The first half whistle blew with the hosts somehow only three ahead with Messi and Neymar tormenting the visitors who struggled to get to grips with the league leaders.

Sociedad began the second half well and earned a deserved goal just after the hour mark after Agirretxe produced a sublime piece of control to take the ball down inside the box beating Pique before prodding a cross into the path of De La Bella, who was left with the simplest of finishes at the back post from five yards with Valdes drawn out of position.

Barca added a fourth in the 77th minute from an unlikley source as young defender Bartra roamed forward to meet Messi's cutback before flicking home.

There were no more goals with Pedro going close after he came on for Neymar with 15 minutes to go after his hat-trick display at the weekend earned him a place on the bench for tonight's match.

Alexis almost made it five with the last touch of the game but his header could only come back off the woodwork.
